Tinker Watches started with a question: How can we make a watch that is clean and timeless without being too serious, thoughtfully-detailed without overt branding, honestly-priced and well-constructed without unnecessary features or superfluous detailing? We worked with Tinker Watches to create a website that followed this same ethos.
Simplicity and Transparency
The quality of components in the watches that Tinker Watches creates is of central importance to the brand, and we wanted to highlight these components in a way that would build value for the brand, but also feel fresh and visually engaging. We created a dynamic animation for the home page that features a different watch each time the page is loaded and gives customers a glimpse into what makes the watches tick (literally).
Building Engagement
Tinker Watches' product line started as a modular concept that allowed customers to select any combination of three sizes, three finishes, and six strap colors. We wanted to create a non-traditional experience that would allow users to navigate the line and find the perfect watch for them, in a more exciting and interactive way than just displaying all the products in a collection. We designed and built an interactive tool that lets users select different components and see how different combinations looked together while learning a little about the components in the process.
The packaging was designed to be simple and easy to ship, with a modular sleeve that can be easily customized for partnerships and special events. Shown here is the sleeve used for a limited edition series in collaboration with Ace Hotel.
A Modular Identity
We wanted to embrace Tinker Watches' modular approach to their watches with a modular business card system that utilizes multiple front-facing sides, featuring simple illustrations of the different components.
